Bring me closer

Premiere in 2025

Showing on 28th of February 2025

Area Espai de Dansa i Creació in Barcelona

Bring me closer embodies the tension between closeness and distance, exploring the unspoken complexities of attraction and touch. The performance between Mikkel Alexander Tøttrup and Vasilis Maltampes is inspired by the tension within spaces often loaded with expectation, performance, or restraint.

Our work revolves around the investigation of human connection between two male bodies maneuvering their attraction in one-another in a nightclub. A place of high energy, where bodies move instinctively and rarely pause for honest connection. The two bodies engage into a silent negotiation of space, driven by resistance, magnetism, own expectations and the need to express vulnerability in order to meet each other on a common ground.

Bring me closer is a study of touch, revealing how a simple embrace carries the weight of one’s personal experience. The work is an invitation to reconsider how we share space, how we trust one another, and how we allow ourselves to be seen through the social environment. The duet magnifies the simplicity yet complexity of human connections and a reminder that empathy is everything we experience around the simple act of hugging.
